6. Fresh Seafood
I love seafood and if you’re a seafood lover like me, El Nido is the best place to be! Mackerel, tuna and squid. It happened too fast. Gone with the wind. So I was not able to take photos of our lunch. Even the foreign tourists loved it. Now I don’t know what’s the connection of seafood to solo traveling? Maybe if you love your food, you won’t mind much if you’re alone 😀
7. Mend a Broken Heart or Heal your Soul
With El Nido’s stunning scenery and relaxing environment, it’s easy to forget about your heartaches, stresses, problems and issues in life. I spent a day in Nacpan Beach and time flew. Every corner was picture-perfect and I had a sumptuous lunch – Sinigang na Hipon. Yummy! I totally forgot about Manila.
8. Small yet Compact Town
You can’t get lost. El Nido is a small town and very easy to navigate by walking or you can ride a trike for 50 pesos. Every basic thing you need is available. There are grocery stores, bakeshop and a computer rental shop. I also saw a store selling swimming essentials like bathing suits, sun block, life vest, waterproof bags, etc. There are carinderias where you can have lunch or dinner for as low as 70 pesos or fancy restaurants where you can dine for 300 pesos up.
9. International Travelers
I joined Tour A during my first day in El Nido and I was the only Filipino in the tour. The other visitors are mostly Europeans from England, France, Sweden and Germany. There are also tourists from South Africa and Taiwan. They couldn’t guess from what country I came from. And when I said I’m from Manila, they laughed. They asked me if Manila is safe and I said yes and they laughed more. They don’t believe me. Anyway, if you want to connect with backpackers, El Nido is a great place to meet new friends.
10. El Nido is Simply Breathtaking!
Okay the pictures are stunning and jaw-dropping. But it’s not enough that you see El Nido in photos or in Youtube. (My low-tech camera phone can’t capture El Nido’s beauty!). You have to see it with your own eyes. It’s like a glimpse of heaven. It is every photographer’s dream destination and every traveler’s paradise. It’s the perfect place to be alone, to be with your lover, your kids, friends, colleagues or entire family. Come visit El Nido!
Note: Something went wrong with my watermarks. I will fix it. Cheers! 🙂
