INFJs are often described as the unicorns because they are rare and they have a contradicting personality. Here are 7 things about being an INFJ that you need to know.
(1) It’s like a curse or a disease or a handicap.
- You are highly sensitive
- You sense people’s intention … quite accurately
- Keeping harmony is important to you
- But you don’t hesitate to cut connections when necessary
- You overthink
- You are future-oriented but have vivid memories of the past especially your traumas
(2) Your idealism is the biggest curse.
You have a very idealistic definition of friendship, parenting, teaching, working, and everything. And if something doesn’t fit your idea of how it should be, you get really frustrated and you even feel betrayed.
(3) Purpose and meaning are necessary.
You worry that you’re not doing your purpose in life. You worry that you don’t really understand the true meaning of life. It’s not a 24/7 thing but when it attacks, it’s so bad that you are paralyzed and can’t take the next step in life.
(4) You door slam.
Your idealism, unrealistic standards and hypersensitivity is a dangerous combination. If you don’t know how to manage these things, you will end up alone in life and disconnected because nobody deserves you. Every person’s going to hurt you in some way.
Unless you accept the truth that your sky-high standards are made from fantasy land, you’re not going to be happy. So if a friend doesn’t measure up to your expectations, don’t put drama in it. Why? Because that’s expected. Your standards are unrealistic, remember?
(5) You think you can predict the future.
I was reading articles about INFJs and experts are saying that we know the future through patterns and observations. Mmm … yes. But more than that, you create your future that’s why you kinda know what’s going to happen next. And if you are an INFJ, understand this: your mind is very powerful.
As an INFJ, it’s easy to get frustrated when people don’t meet your standards or when you see their insincerity. You dwell on those negative thoughts and emotions and the result is you attract more negative vibes in your life. You are imaginative and creative and you better use that gift to create positive visions and big dreams that are in favor of you and your loved ones.
(6) But you actually create the future.
Don’t waste your life feeling frustrated or replaying in your mind your past traumas and getting stuck in that phase. Quickly shift your imagination toward big dreams and determine the next events in your life by focusing on what you want to happen.
Is this easy? No. Why? Because as an INFJ, you need purpose and meaning. And if you have a big grand dream but it’s not clear WHY and FOR WHAT REASON you must pursue that dream, you’re not going to strive to actually make that dream come true.
This principle that I’m talking about is not just for introverts but for all types of personalities. It’s just that, as an INFJ, you are highly in tune with your inner world and you are always overthinking so why not overthink about grand visions and joyful dreams? Why waste your life overthinking about negative thoughts and emotions?
(7) Your life will either be miserable or joyful, boring or adventurous.
It’s no brainer that choosing to be joyful is the logical path. But as an INFJ, it’s not that simple. Why? Because hello! Your standards, your yearning for purpose and meaning, and other personal beliefs that you stubbornly hold on to can be limiting and stopping you from living an optimal and happy life. Laugh at your unrealistic standards and keep on building connections. Most importantly, take care of yourself. You are constantly caring for others and you also deserve the care and tenderness that you freely give to those around you.
